Castle early & often. CASTLE EARLY & OFTEN!
- Rooks personality. Bishops can be like snipers! Knights, funky funky Knights.
- Start to realise the value of a loss. Write down PRECISELY/EXACTLY how & why you lost. Remember that 'A loss gives you the lesson which you needed the most' This is a quinntessential gem of chess study.
- Learn how to evaluate pile ons. 2 on 1. 3 on 2. Understand the need to capture with the most valuable last.
- P + K vs. K is another great one. It often ends in stalemate for beginners. Put one Queen and King against just the other King. Play it out until checkmate. This could be done in 21 moves or less, watch out for stalemate!
- Back rank mates. Know 3 on 2. Or 2 on one. Make sure you are familiar with how to quickly calculate the back attacks. What is escape hatch? Luft?

CASTLE EARLY AND OFTEN~ Know this special move & know what makes it your first priority. It is allowed once per game, for each player. Not allowed after King or Rook moved. The way it happens is King moves over 2 squares toward corner & Rook 'tucks him in' safely.
(CEO I) It is a very smart, very valuable move. (CEO II)Castling protects the King by nestling it safely in the corner. (CEO III)Castling connects the Rooks AND brings them into battle.
