"~GOOD DRILLS MAKE GOOD SKILLS~
Students rated 200 should know the following to proceed to the 300 group.

KNOW THESE & KNOW THESE WELL

  • Castle early & often. CASTLE EARLY & OFTEN!

    • RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRows go RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRight & left. Memorize 1&2 then 7&8.

    • Rooks. Moves, value & personality..

    • Start to realise the value of a loss. Write down PRECISELY/EXACTLY how & why you lost. Remeber that 'A loss gives you the lesson which you needed the most' This is a quinntessential gem of chess study.

    • Learn the ways of the Rook & the rook sight drills.

    • Checkmate, stalemate & check (TIM)

    • Rook endings
      2 rooks versus king
      K + R vs. K

    • Pigs on porches

    • Follow this plan closely, as a sensible way to steadily increase your ELO. This "ELO rating" system is used by the USCF, FIDE, the Internet Chess Club (ICC), Yahoo! Games, and the Professional Chess Association (PCA).

    • WE ARE A TEAM OF CHESS STUDENTS. BE A GOOD TRAINING PARTNER. WE HAVE A FANTASTIC GROUP & AN EQUALLY FANTASTIC CHANCE TO 'GET GOOD" VERY QUICKLY..

    • CASTLE EARLY AND OFTEN~ Know this special move & know what makes it your first priority. It is allowed once per game, for each player. Not allowed after King or Rook moved. The way it happens is King moves over 2 squares toward corner & Rook 'tucks him in' safely.
(CEO I) It is a very smart, very valuable move.
(CEO II)Castling protects the King by nestling it safely in the corner.
(CEO III)Castling connects the Rooks AND brings them into battle.
